PE Daily Deviations - So you want to suggest DDs?You're browsing deviantART or are simply checking your message centre and find a wonderful art piece. You want to suggest it as a Daily Deviation because you believe it truly deserves to be seen by the community as a whole. But how to properly suggest a DD? This article will explain the process.
Things to check before sending a suggestion:
The first thing you need to check is if the artist has been given a Daily Deviation in the past 6 months. Volunteers cannot feature anyone who's had a DD in that period of time with no exceptions, as this has been hard-coded into deviantART's system.
"But how do I check an artist's Daily Deviations?" you may ask. Simply go to their gallery, click browse and scroll down. If they have any DDs, you'll be able to find a link to them at the bottom of the page. Alternatively, you can add "/dds" after their profile url and click enter on your browser's address bar.

He had bought a new Apple Mac Plus to help with the thesis, but was frustrated by the fact the computer wouldn't display greyscale images on the monochrome monitor. This issue wouldn't stop him and so he decided to write his own code in order to be able to see the images in his new computer.

Quino - Latin American cartoonistJoaquín Salvador Lavado, better known as Quino, is an Argentine cartoonist born in Mendoza on July 17, 1932. According to his official website, Quino discovered his love for art at the young age of 3 thanks to his uncle Joaquín Tejón, painter and advertising illustrator.

In Mendoza, he went to the School of Fine Arts (Escuela de Bellas Artes) with the hopes of working for the comic Rico Tipo. However, he left the school in 1945. Five years later, he sells his first cartoon to a silk shop and visits Buenos Aires for 3 weeks in search for a job, with not luck whatsoever. In 1954, he returns to Buenos Aires where some of his works get published by Esto Es. In 1963 he publishes his first book: a collection of silent comics titled Mundo Quino.

The History of Art - Vector GraphicsThe earliest 2D computer graphics were all vector graphics.
One of the first uses of vector graphic displays was the US SAGE air defence system. Vector graphics systems were only retired from U.S. en route air traffic control in 1999, and are likely still in use in military and specialised systems. Kairos is an ancient Greek word meaning the right or opportune moment or "the supreme moment". The Greeks believed the concept of Kairos is achieved when such a moment is grasped for otherwise the moment is gone and cannot be re-captured. According to ancient Greeks, Kairos was the god of the “fleeting moment.”
Interestingly the ancient Greeks had two words for time, chronos and kairos. While chronos is quantitative, kairos has a qualitative nature.

That Was Then, This Is Now. A community project!

What is TWTTIN?
That was then, this is now (or TWTTIN for short), is a community project I’ve come up with to help deviants see how much progress they’ve made through the years.

Basically, you will be able to show the community a comparison between one of your old pieces and a remake or reinterpretation of said piece.

What  do you have to do?
First thing is to find your old art. Something at least 2 years old. Choose one that you think could use some revamping. It can be something you have uploaded to deviantART, but if it’s not, you can upload it to your scraps or the category you think suits it the best.

The next step is to analyze the piece.  How would you execute it today?  What changes would you make?  You can recreate or reinterpret it as you wish, as long as the original concept is kept intact.

Once you’re finished, note me with both thumbnails.  I’ll post a journal  featuring all the participants and the two versions of each piece. There will be also a news article as soon as the deadline for the project is reached.

Are there any medium restrictions?
Not at all. Any medium is allowed: if there is a category for it in deviantART, rest assured it can be a part of this.

Who can enter?
Anyone and everyone. There is no restrictions: staff, seniors, beta testers, subscribers and regular members alike are welcome! Just be sure to comment on my journal to make it into my list of participants.

Is there a deadline?
Deadline is May 1st, 2009. The news article and journal will be posted the day after. Project begins as of today.

This is actually a really good idea. I've been thinking of doing something like that lately, but have been too lay to actually do it. This might be a good motivation
