Now they're closed. But you can order your slot in the waiting list Today, I want to talk about something that's been on my mind for quite a long time: Daily Deviation suggestions.
But it wasn't until I read ^Lyricanna's There is no nice way to say it but and `alicexz's New DD Suggestion rule that I felt the need to echo their words and add my two cents.
Quality of art: When sending a Fan Art suggestions, please bear in mind that I want to feature unique works. The best of a fanartist's gallery. What I look for in a Fan Art Daily Deviation is not cuteness. Cute just doesn't cut it, like ^Lyricanna said. I search for emotions, technical skill (composition, shading, colour, etc), interaction of the characters with their surroundings and other characters. I'm looking for pieces that tell me a story and/or show emotion. Of course, there are cute pieces that can show that, but if you're going to send me Twilight Sparkle staring into nothingness, it's not going to get featured. Copies of official art or screenshots: I'm not talking about direct traces, but pieces that have been "eyeballed" from said sources. They're good for practicing purposes, but as I said above I'd rather feature a fanartist interpretation of their fandom of choice. And yes, I know I recently featured one of those, but I wasn't aware as I didn't know the fandom well. In any case, please send me fan art with original poses and situations! Old fan art: Another thing I've noticed is that people send me old works from time to time. Things that were uploaded back in 2004-2008 (or older). I have no problems featuring old work, but if you find something from 2008 or far back that you think it's good... why don't you look at the rest of that gallery and see how much progress the artist has achieved? I'm pretty sure you'd be able to find much better art in their recent submissions. Just look at it this way: would you rather have a DD with an old piece from your gallery or a DD with a newer piece that you believe shows your growth as an artist over the years? Number of favourites: Many people keep sending me suggestions with thousands of favourites. Once I received a note with a deviation that had more than 60,000. Do you think something like that needs more exposure? I want to feature artists who aren't as popular as to receive a thousand favs the minute they upload anything. From now on, I wont feature anything with over 1,200 favs the moment I read the note. Also, I WONT feature artists with more than 2 Daily Deviations. Let's give the spotlight to those who don't have exposure but with amazing fanart. Fandoms: During my term, I've been doing my best to feature all kinds of fandoms. Yet, I keep receiving suggestions with the same old: Harry Potter, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Pokémon, Touhou, Vocaloid, Zelda, Mario, Sonic. I'd love to be able to feature different and obscure fandoms, so here's my challenge to you: think of an obscure or underrepresentedfandom and find me an amazing piece of fanart, something that makes your jaw drop and suggest it to me. You might be surprised! 
Thumbnails vs links: I've noticed that many deviants with no premium membership tend to send me links instead of thumbnails when they note me their suggestions. However, even if you don't have a Premium Membership, you can use the thumbcode in notes. Simply go to the deviation page and you'll find the thumbnail code on the right column under Details and above Statistics. Copy, paste and voilá! It's not that difficult. I don't mind links, but remember: "A picture says a thousand words". 
And I thinks that pretty much covers it all. Perhaps I should have posted this much earlier in my term as a volunteer, but most of these points are the result of the experience I had in the past few months. Defining Street Photography

Most types of photography can be easily defined by their subjects. A wedding photographer takes pictures of weddings. A portrait photographer poses someone and takes their picture. The nature photographer covers a wide area, but it is easy to categorize.
Street photography is difficult to define because it can encompass just about any subject.
If I were to ask you to name a few famous street photographers, you might pick, Garry Winnograd, Henri Cartier-Bresson, or maybe Robert Frank. But if I asked you to define street photography – that would be more difficult. You might say that street photography is candid pictures of strangers on the street. That might be a good start, but it doesn’t really describe street photography.

Some love it, some hate it; some play with it creating snowmen, others do everything to get rid of it; some see it all year long and some can only dream about it.
Because of how many different emotions we connect with snow and how many uses it has it's a perfect theme for the promised fan art contest!

That's right, crazy old thorny coconut is giving out prizes for complaining. What could be more fun than that? Well, what happens after the complaining will be more fun, imo, but I'll save that until this portion is complete. Psst, next phase will have more prizes.

The thing is, this isn't only about statistics but trying to feature more artists, especially those who haven't had the exposure of being on the DD page. But I wont feature people who don't have one just because of it, their art has to be of quality. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
Plus, there's also ^0JennxYukina0 and ^ChewedKandi featuring Fan Art Daily Deviations. They're guidelines differ from mine. That's why when noting a CV with DD suggestions people should always read their individual guidelines, because each one of us have different criteria when selecting what we feature.
Or would you suggest that people have multiple accounts if they're multitalented?
I guess I'm saying that I hope that you'd always keep your mind open because on rare occasions it may be good to make an exception to any rule.
