This painting is palpable. It stands out because of its simple yet delicate composition.
The vision of the artist is one of the defining qualities in a good painting, and here we see that Alexandra really loves what she drew.
The reference image used is fantastic, but I like that the painting is slightly different from the original photograph. The biggest change is that the edges of the leaf the ladybug rests upon are clearly defined. It is a very nice way to show how minuscule the little lady is.
Obviously the technique displayed here is beautiful. It has that chalky pastel quality that reminds me of one of my favorite artists: Bill Cone [link]
There is excellence all around you. You need only to be aware to stop and savor it.

Psalm 104:24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
I love how the artist chose to make the texture look rough and spongey, it makes it look like a painting wich adds to the classic vibe of the subject. I could see a piece like this being in a childrens book or even hung on someone's wall. It's a cute and pleasant work with crisp and vibrant but not overwelming colors which makes it very pleasant to look at. The artist managed to depict a lovely photograph in a way that pays homage to the original work but still makes it their own. An adorably rendered image of an equally adorable creature.
